The Sycamore Education Foundation (SEF) is pleased to announce a new scholarship that will be available to Sycamore High School students in the graduating class of 2022. The Warren family has established the Joey Warren Memorial Scholarship to honor the life and legacy of their son.
Joey Warren graduated from Sycamore High School in 2018. Joey had an adventurous spirit, and he loved to live life to its fullest. He enjoyed playing sports, working at Rosati’s, having fun with his dogs Abby and Jack, being with his family and friends, and watching football. Joey was a huge Chicago Bears fan.
“Joey loved playing soccer, from AYSO to travel, to starting on the Sycamore Spartans high school soccer team,” said Michael Warren, Joey’s father. “Joey not only loved playing, but had many close friends on his team, and was always there, not only as a teammate but a friend.”
After high school, Joey attended Northern Illinois University where he was studying to become a psychologist. He always wanted to help people.
“We are so grateful for the generosity of the Warren family. It is an honor to establish this scholarship in memory of Joey. His life and legacy on the soccer field will live on through future Spartans,” said Lauren Holtz, SEF Executive Director.
Sycamore students can apply for this $2,000 scholarship. They must be a graduating senior, accepted to a university, junior college, or a trade school. The student must currently play for the Sycamore High School boys varsity soccer team and exhibit an appreciation for the values exemplified by Joey’s life.
Those interested in contributing to the Joey Warren Memorial Scholarship, can donate by writing a check to the Sycamore Education Foundation 245 W. Exchange Street Sycamore, IL 60178, or directly through the SEF website. Please note the Joey Warren Memorial Scholarship under “Tribute Name”.
